The tech industry is exploding right now and there’s not enough students studying tech or enough qualified professionals to fill the demand. A Digital Skills Aotearoa survey released recently found that New Zealand does not have the skills required to take on a world in which, by 2025, as many as 149 million new digital technology jobs are expected to be created.
That is an insane number of new jobs, so to ensure NZ has the skills to fill all the roles within the Tech industry we offer several ways to study for free.
See our list of tech programmes that fall under the government initiative supporting students to study tech for FREE. All domestic students are eligible regardless of prior study. It can be used before First Year Fees Free and does not impact your Fees Free eligibility.
WHAT DOES IT COVER?
The Government's Fees Free scheme means eligible students do not have to pay tuition fees in their first year of study at Yoobee Colleges. If you choose to study our Level 5 programme for free using the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund outlined above, and you can also use First Year Fees Free afterwards for another year study which gives you 2-years of free study.
Example of how this can work for you:
