Motion Graphics for Brand Recognition

This module gives you an introduction to the creative processes behind effective motion design. You'll develop visual styles and apply animation techniques to create animated brand elements.You'll learn the fundamentals of Adobe After Effects and how they can be used to produce engaging animation with synchronised audio.

This module takes your motion design skills to the next level. A bit more information

Software

You'll need a PC or Mac of your own, with reliable internet access to join online meetings. You'll need an active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription for the duration of the programme, including access to After Effects. Photoshop and Illustrator. You can check out Adobe's student plans and pricing here.

Please ensure that you have the most recent software update for Adobe.

Equipment

For optimal performance when studying remotely, we recommend:

  • Your computer is up to date (ensure you have the latest version of the necessary plug-ins, drivers, bug fixes and security updates)

  • You have reliable internet speed and connection

  • A web cam and microphone

  • Do not use a Chromebook - Chromebooks are not intended for heavy-duty processing such as Adobe Creative Cloud software.

  • Completed Enrolment Form - Upon application we will ask you to complete an enrolment form.

  • Verified Form of ID - We require certified copies of your identity and residency documentation. This can be a valid passport or birth certificate.

  • Proof of NZ Residency or Citizenship - If not stated on your passport of birth certificate, you will also need to provide proof of citizenship/residency in New Zealand if applying as a domestic student. 

  • International Students - Please contact us directly here to finalise enrolment and payment opposed to applying online. This micro-credential is open to individuals living or residing in New Zealand only.

Learners will be eligible to enter this Micro-credential if they:

  • Are at least 16 years old and

  • Have basic computer skills and an interest in motion graphics

  • Hold NCEA Level 2 or equivalent evidence that they have the ability to succeed in the micro-credential

  • Students with English as a second language require IELTS 5.5 (General or Academic) with no band lower than 5.0

Benjamin Dudding - Tutor

Benjamin has had over 18 years experience teaching and working with digital media, specialising in the fields of Video & Motion Graphic design and Music & Audio Production.

He is currently working at City Desktop Training, teaching accredited Adobe and Apple Video, Audio and Motion Graphics courses and has previously taught at Victoria University (Melbourne) in the audio production, digital media, games design, graphic design and visual arts courses.

As a musician and producer he has had over fifteen years experience composing, recording, producing and performing electronic music. His own brand 'Sonic Safari' delivers online training courses in music production to online platforms Udemy, Skillshare and Grinfer.

Ben also works as a freelance sound designer/composer, motion graphics artist and video editor.His skills include: Video Editing, Motion graphics, Compositing/Visual Effects; Electronic Music Production, Audio Recording Editing and Mixing, Scoring Music for video and games.
