Scholarship Overview 

The Yoobee IT Pathway Scholarship provides first-year tuition coverage for the Diploma in Software Development (online). This scholarship is designed for current students, recent graduates, and direct-entry applicants who are passionate about advancing their careers in IT. By removing financial barriers, this scholarship allows recipients to gain the advanced skills and hands-on experience necessary for success in today’s rapidly evolving IT landscape.  

Rationale

Yoobee Colleges is committed to building a skilled, diverse, and innovative IT workforce in Aotearoa New Zealand. As demand for IT professionals continues to grow, the IT Pathway Scholarship supports students on a dedicated pathway toward specialised IT careers. By offering first-year zero-fee study, we aim to make IT education accessible to all students, particularly those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, and provide opportunities for a successful IT career. 

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the Yoobee IT Pathway Scholarship, applicants must: 

• Be a current student or 2024 graduate of Yoobee’s Certificate in Information Technology (Level 5). 

OR 

• Be a direct-entry applicant who is a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand or hold a New Zealand residence class visa. 

• Meet one of the following academic entry requirements: 

• New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4) OR 

• Demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience  

How do I apply? To apply for the scholarship, applicants must: 

• Ensure you meet the selection criteria listed above. 

• Complete the online application form for the Diploma in Software Development – Online Campus 

• Submit all required documentation to meet academic entry requirements. 

• Submit a letter that describes your reasons for applying, covering the following points: 

  • Specific interest in the programme with demonstrated examples. 

  • Future aspirations in the IT field. 

  • How receiving the scholarship will help remove financial barriers and allow you to achieve your goals. 

Academic Expectations Scholarship recipients are expected to meet the following academic requirements: 

• Meet online engagement requirements  

• Pass all courses with a minimum grade of C or higher. 

• Complete the programme within the standard full-time duration. 

Additional Information 

• This scholarship is only available for our Diploma in Software Development (Year 1) taught via Yoobee’s Online campus. 

• This scholarship covers tuition fees and the student service levy for Year 1. 

• If this is your first time studying at the tertiary level, you may also be eligible for TEC's Final Year Fees Free. Check your eligibility at Fees Free. 

• The scholarship cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred to another person. 

• Limited number of scholarships available to eligible applicants 

• Students will need access to a computer with prescribed basic hardware requirements as per marketing material, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
