Scholarship Overview 

Yoobee College of Creative Innovation is offering a number of scholarships for the Certificate in Information Technology, Level 5 programme. This scholarship initiative contributes to the development of a skilled IT workforce in Aotearoa New Zealand, addressing the growing demand for IT professionals. By investing in the education of students, the programme equips them with essential skills that are directly applicable to the tech workforce and emerging IT practices, fostering innovation and supporting Aotearoa’s economic growth. 

The 16-week (full-time) / 32-week (part-time) online programme not only helps fill the talent gap but also provides a clear pathway to further higher education study and career opportunities in IT-related roles, including entry-level IT and client support positions.  

Rationale 

This scholarship programme aligns with Yoobee’s mission to remove financial barriers and provide opportunities for students. Offering zero fees study for this programme aligns with the aim of providing opportunities for further IT-related study and employment in entry-level IT and client support roles. By removing financial barriers, more students, including those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, can access and benefit from the programme.   

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the Certificate in Information Technology Scholarship, applicants must: 

• Be a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand or hold a New Zealand residence class visa. 

• If English is not the applicant’s first language, they must demonstrate English language proficiency with an IELTS score of 5.5 or above, with no band lower than 5.0. 

• Meet one of the academic entry requirements for the Certificate in Information Technology (please refer to the entry requirements on the course page). 

How do I apply? 

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must: 

• Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria listed above. 

• Complete the online application form for the Certificate in Information Technology. 

• Provide your Academic Transcript and/or CV. 

• Submit a letter that describes your reasons for applying, covering the following points:

  • Specific interest in the programme with demonstrated examples. 

  • Future aspirations in the IT field. 

  • How receiving the scholarship will help remove financial barriers and allow you to achieve your goals. 

Academic Expectations Scholarship recipients are expected to meet the following academic requirements: 

• Meet online engagement requirements  

• Pass all courses with a minimum grade of C or higher. 

• Complete the programme within the standard duration: 16 weeks for full-time student OR 32 weeks for part-time students. 

Additional Information 

• The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees for the Certificate in Information Technology, Level 5 

• Students will need access to a computer with prescribed basic hardware requirements as per marketing material, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection. 

• Limited number of scholarships available to eligible applicants 

• The scholarship cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred to another person.
