Gino Valencia
About
Gino Valencia teaches on the Bachelor of Animation programme at Yoobee College of Creative Innovation. Over his many years of academic study and industry experience, Gino has worked as a storyboard artist for television, including employment on Season 3 of ‘Kura (2022), as well as an animator for various promotional shorts for companies such as Spark, and for Penguin Books.
Gino is currently illustrating comic books for local clients highlighting environmental issues and Aotearoa’s native wildlife. The stories are written in collaboration with iwi from Whangarei and presented in Te Reo. The goal is to introduce New Zealand’s native culture to the next generation, engaging them through this medium and exploring their local wildlife and history through a superhero context.
