We’ll teach you typography, layout and how to capture and manipulate images. You’ll deepen your understanding of the conventional design process, and you’ll learn how to channel that knowledge into the creation of epic work, from digital packaging and posters to magazines, brochures and ads.

Graduates of the course receive the New Zealand Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 6).
What you'll learn
Communication Design
Gain skills to effectively use type, imagery, and principles of visual design to communicate information through static or dynamic visual media. Apply specialised design principles and methodologies to create digital media design solutions.
Narrative and Storytelling
Learn to design publications that speak clearly to a target audience. Work with typography, layout and visual components to create deliverables that are bang on the money.
Brand Strategy
Learn the skills to develop successful brand strategies through research, discovery, ideation, critical thinking. Work on various design projects including design processes and production practices using current industry standard best practices.
Packaging
Work through the process of launching a product, creating a range of deliverables for a target audience, learning about barcoding, QR codes, product photography, die lines, packaging, and printing on different substrates and will investigate how to access crowdfunding.
Experiential Design
Learn the skills to create static or dynamic visual design experiences that effectively communicate with a defined target audience whilst considering intercultural visual communication. Apply visual communication skills, design theories, principles and methodologies, semiotic analysis, and user experience way-finding systems for both physical or digital environments.

We provide you with software licences for: Adobe CC suite, online collaborative design tools.
Equipment:
You are required to bring your own device. This allows flexibility of study outside of class hours and seamless remote study in the event of another lockdown where classroom facilities are inaccessible. If you do not own your own device, please discuss this with one of our team at enrolment.

Students must have graduated from the Level 5 Diploma in Digital Design – Web and Graphic Design, or have a portfolio assessed by the Head of Faculty. Download our portfolio guidelines for this course.
