While they may seem similar at first, the role of game designer and game developer are actually quite different.
Game designers conceptualize the game, which includes the narrative (characters and story), presentation/user experience, and gameplay (including level design and mechanics). Whereas game developers implement the designers concepts using programming, animation, and audio.
