During this 12-week part time course you’ll develop your technical and theoretical knowledge of cyber security risks, threats and attacks, developing your skills in testing, planning and responding to security issues. You’ll learn how to explore a range of security vulnerabilities, and to prepare and test against attacks. You’ll analyse and investigate attacks and implement effective security measures. Using a range of risk assessment methodologies, you’ll develop a risk mitigation and management strategy for information security.

Live online classes are a friendly and supportive alternative to watching video tutorials – you’re able to ask questions and receive answers from an experienced Yoobee tutor in real time. Your tutor will share their screen, demonstrating professional tools and techniques, then support you as you follow along, completing activities during class time.

Given the nature of the topic, is vital that you review the entry requirements and ensure you have the correct level of computer networking experience. If you are unsure please request more information on the course page for detailed information. Please see these requirements below: To ensure your success in this micro-credential, you should meet the following requirements:
Are at least 16 years old, and
Minimum two years’ experience working with computer network technology, information security or related experience.
Knowledge of:
TCP/IP networking protocols
Routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs
Authentication and authorisation processes
Windows and Linux security
International applicants must be 18 years or older and have proof that they have gained within the last 2 years, English language skills equivalent to IELTS level 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.
For students who have completed one or more of these Yoobee courses, you will be eligible for the Cyber Security Micro-credential. We will still send you the list of requirements just for reference and will ask for a copy of your CV still for our records:
Certificate in Information Technology and Client Support
If you obtain the Cisco Networking Essentials badge, we will also accept this as proof that entry requirements are met (Instead of a CV being provided)

Completed Enrolment Form - Upon application we will ask you to complete an enrolment form.
Verified Form of ID - We require certified copies of your identity and residency documentation. This can be a valid passport or birth certificate.
Proof of NZ Residency or Citizenship - If not stated on your passport of birth certificate, you will also need to provide proof of citizenship/residency in New Zealand if applying as a domestic student.
